Top programmable microprocessor controller for AC motors without sensors ("brushless, sensorless") constructed using the capabilities of state-of-the-art semiconductor technology with excellent performance characteristics and extensive programming and setup capabilities. It is used to control the speed of AC electric motors in large model aircraft or helicopters powered by LiPo/Li-ion/LiFe batteries. It is designed for the high, long-lasting load-carrying capacity and durability required in high-performance models. For helicopters, it offers an advanced regulator function with a range of adjustable parameters for constant speed control. It features a high-performance pulsed BEC power stabilizer with adjustable output voltage to provide power to the receiver and servos from the propulsion battery. For easy adjustment of the controller, use Hobbywing's special multifunction LCD programmer or OTA programmer with Bluetooth, which are sold separately.

DESCRIPTION AND FUNCTIONS OF THE CONTROLLER

  • Suitable for most aircraft AC motors powered by 6-14S LiPo/Li-ion/LiFe batteries.
  • High-performance microprocessor for precise regulator function (maintains constant speed) and super soft start
  • Special microprocessor power stabilizer for high noise immunity and reduced risk of loss of control
  • Optimized DEO (Driving Efficiency Optimization) control technology significantly improves throttle response and power stage control performance, lowers regulator temperature.
New switchable power regulator BEC with 5-12V output voltage regulation and 10A continuous / 30A peak load capacity
  • BEC is isolated from the rest of the regulator circuitry, can maintain proper operation even if the power supply board with regulator MOSFET transistors burns out
  • Extensive programming capabilities with a wide range of adjustable functions and parameters.
Flight modes: Plane, Helicopter (Linear Throttle), Helicopter (Elf Governor), Helicopter
  • New controller program with adjustable P/I controller parameters ensures excellent maintenance of constant RPMs, guarantees stable carrier rotor rotation even under sudden load changes
  • Flight parameter logger records RPM, minimum voltage and maximum temperature during flight
  • The "autorotate restart" function can manually interrupt autorotation and quickly restart the engine to avoid failure caused by incorrect model control
  • Independent output port for tachometer signals in helicopter modes
  • Dedicated programming port for programming the controller or setting parameters of the multifunction LCD PRO programming module or Bluetooth OTA module
  • Supports online data checking, controller programming, firmware update on PC or smartphone/tablet (requires LCD PRO multifunction programming module or OTA module)
  • OTA module with Bluetooth (sold separately) for wireless controller programming via smartphone (iOS or Android)
  • A range of protection functions: start-up protection, controller thermal protection, capacitor thermal protection, overload protection, overcurrent protection and protection in case of control signal loss.

PROGRAMMABLE FUNCTIONS

  • Flight mode: Allows selection of programs for aircraft, helicopter (with linear throttle/external regulator), helicopter (with Elf regulator) or helicopter (with Store regulator)
  • Number of LiPo cells: the regulator offers automatic detection of the number of cells or its manual setting
  • Method of disconnecting the motor when voltage protection is triggered: The controller will gradually reduce the power to 50% of full power within 3 seconds of voltage protection tripping if "Power limit" mode is selected. If "Hard shutdown" mode is selected, the motor will be shut down immediately
  • PCO - Voltage Protection: the threshold level of voltage protection can be adjusted in the range of 2.8-3.8 V/cell
  • BEC voltage: The BEC voltage of the power stabilizer can be adjusted in the range of 5.0-12.0 V in steps of 0.1 V
  • Response time: Throttle response time can be adjusted from 4-25 in steps of 1.
Regulator parameter P: Determines the ability of the regulator to maintain a stable speed
  • Regulator parameter I: Determines the dynamic response of the regulator
  • Auto restart time: In helicopter modes (Elf/Store Governor), the governor shuts down the engine when the throttle is between 25 and 40%. If you add throttle above 40% within the set auto restart time, the engine starts quickly and (within the set acceleration time at restart) accelerates to the rpm corresponding to the current throttle value. If you add throttle above 40% after the set auto restart time, the controller will go into soft start mode
  • Re-start acceleration time: Adjustable from 1-3 s in 0.5 s increments. This function determines the time required for the engine to restart and accelerate to full speed in Helicopter (Elf/Store Governor) modes
  • Brake: Sets the propeller brake function for aircraft models - off, normal.
Brake intensity: Adjustable from 0-100% in 1% steps for normal braking mode
  • Time: Adjustable in the range of 0-30° in 1° steps
  • Motor rotation direction: clockwise/counterclockwise
  • DEO Idle: This function can be turned on or off in airplane or helicopter (linear throttle) modes to achieve better throttle response linearity

REGULATOR PROTECTION FUNCTIONS

  • Start-up protection: The regulator measures the engine speed during startup. If the speed stops increasing or its increase is not stable, the controller considers it an incorrect start. If the throttle is less than 15% at this point, the controller will automatically try to restart the engine; if the throttle is greater than 15%, push the throttle fully in to restart the engine
  • Regulator thermal protection: If the temperature of the controller exceeds 120°C, the controller will gradually reduce power, but will not completely shut down the motor. To make sure the motor maintains the specified power and does not cause an accident, the maximum power limitation is about 50% of full power. As the controller temperature drops, the controller will gradually restore maximum power. In addition, when switching on, the temperature of the controller must not exceed 70°C, otherwise it will not be possible to switch on the engine
  • Loss of throttle signal: the controller shuts down the motor if the lack of signal lasts 0.25 seconds, to prevent even more damage and danger from the fast-rotating rotor or propeller. Once a normal signal is received, the controller returns to normal operation
  • Overload protection: The controller shuts down the motor or restarts automatically when its load suddenly increases to a very high value. (Possible cause: blockage of the propeller or rotor)
  • Overcurrent protection: the controller shuts down the motor if the current approaches the short-circuit current value. This protection can be activated by a short circuit in a burned motor or for other reasons.

Note: When starting the controller for the first time, first calibrate the gas range according to the instructions. Only then is it possible to operate the controller and set other parameters using the Multifunction LCD PRO programmer or the OTA module with Bluetooth.
