The old modelers - gliders used to say that a proper model starts with a span of two and a half meters or 100 inches.... With the Cumulum 100 it is easy to see that they were absolutely right!
A powerful thermal glider is one of the most satisfying machines in the hangar of a recreational modeler - nothing compares to calm, relaxing flights in mild conditions, circling in thermals under the clouds, quiet flying in the calm of the early evening, when you can sit back and relax see your elegant model fly almost alone.... But the CUMUL 100 can do much more - thanks to a fully mechanized wing with ailerons and flaps, you can poke around carefully when setting it up and get the most out of your computerized RC Kit. Flight modes to increase penetration when searching for thermals or to increase "buoyancy" when circling in the ascending current, an extremely effective butterfly brake for "high-five" landings - these are just a few options so you can really enjoy flying with the Cumulum 100. And if you have the competitive spirit in you, the CUMUL 100 meets the requirements of the FAI F5J international category or national RCEP/RCEN/RCEV classes.

The CUMUL 100 was designed and manufactured in the Czech Republic.

It is a high-performance thermal glider kit with a classic, very light all-balsa, bulk design, which can also be easily modified to be powered by a KAVAN C2836/AXI 2217 AC electric motor. The CUMUL 100 is an ideal design for modelers who want to build a really powerful model for recreational and high-performance flying. Thanks to its clever design with CNC-cut parts equipped with tabs and notches that fit together like puzzle pieces, construction is very quick and easy. With the Cumulum 100, you won't get lost in F5J competitions or in the various "enduro" classes. The kit includes fuselage parts for both the pure glider and the electroplane. Construction is fairly quick and there's not much to it - the CUMUL 100 is still a relatively simple model, but it's not for beginners.

The front of the fuselage consists of a laminated nacelle with a removable cover that provides excellent access to the rudder and elevator servos stored in a plywood bed, the receiver and possibly the motor, regulator and propulsion battery. To make it easier to modify the nacelle for mounting an electric motor, a plywood tool is also included to cut off the end of the fuselage. The rear of the fuselage is a carbon tube girder with a glued-on pylon with a balsa-covered lightweight plywood core to protect the horizontal tail. An adjustable tow hook is also included.

The three-part wing with an AG 40-42 profile is a classic design with balsa ribs and a rigid torsion box cover. The main beam consists of flanges made of spruce slats with a balsa web, which guarantees high frame strength with very low weight. Ears with elegant wings connect to the midplane with carbon fasteners and duralumin spacers. Flaps and ailerons are controlled independently by four servos using short rollers. The wing is attached to the fuselage with two plastic screws.

The tail surfaces are made of board, glued together from CNC-carved balsa parts. To facilitate transportation, the horizontal tail surface can be removed; it attaches with 2 plastic screws. The rudders are controlled by steel cables.

The model can be wrapped with a napalm film - such as foil. transparent KAVAN or Oracover® film for purely recreational flying; if you are building a high-performance machine, the lighter Oralight® film or similar materials are preferred.

You will need at least a seven-channel RC kit to control the model. For recreational flying, a good 15-20 g microservo with metal gears and a thrust of at least 2.5 kg.cm will suffice; for sport and high-performance flying, don't hesitate to install powerful and fast microservos, such as the KAVAN GO-1023MG for ailerons and flaps and the KAVAN GO-1020MG/GO-1021MG for rudder and elevator (the beds provided in the kit are " tailor-made" for these servos).

For propulsion of the electric version, you will need an AC electric motor of 300-450 W and 28 mm diameter; our prototypes fly with KAVAN C2836-1120 and KAVAN PRO 2836-1050 motors with 10x6" propeller with 32 mm propeller cone and KAVAN R-40SB Plus or KAVAN PRO-40SB controllers powered by 3S LiPo 11.1 V 750-850 mAh batteries with a carrying capacity of at least 30°C for recreational flying and 40°C for high-performance flying.

The kit includes: CNC-cut balsa and plywood parts, fiberboard balsa beams and panels, laminate fuselage nacelle, carbon tube tail spar, accessory kit, sheet of self-adhesive stickers, 1:1 scale building plan and instructions.

The model in KIT version, for self-assembly.
