Top programmable microprocessor controller for AC motors without sensors ("brushless, sensorless") constructed using the capabilities of state-of-the-art semiconductor technology with excellent performance characteristics and extensive programming and setting capabilities. It is used to control the speed of AC electric motors in large model aircraft or helicopters powered by NiCd/NiMH and Li-poly/Li-ion/Li-Fe batteries. For helicopters, it offers an advanced regulator function with multiple adjustable parameters for constant speed control. It features a high-performance BEC pulse power supply stabilizer with adjustable output voltage to provide power to the receiver and servos from the propulsion battery.

DESCRIPTION AND FUNCTIONS OF THE REGULATOR

  • Suitable for most aero AC motors powered by 3-8S LiPo/Li-ion batteries.
  • High-performance microprocessor for precise regulator function (maintaining constant speed) and super soft start.
  • Special power stabilizer for the microprocessor to provide high noise immunity and reduce the risk of loss of control.
  • Optimized DEO (Driving Efficiency Optimization) control technology greatly improves throttle response and power stage control performance, lowers regulator temperature.
  • New pulse power supply BEC stabilizer with adjustable output voltage in the range of 5.4-8.4 V and load capacity of 10 A continuous / 30 A peak (instantaneous).
  • Extensive programming options with a wide range of adjustable functions and parameters.
  • Flight modes: aircraft, helicopter (linear throttle), helicopter (elf governor), helicopter (store governor)
  • The new regulator program with adjustable P/I regulator parameters ensures excellent maintenance of constant RPM, guarantees stable carrier rotor rotation even with sudden load changes.
  • The flight data logger records RPM, minimum voltage and maximum temperature during flight.
  • The "restart autorotation" function can manually interrupt autorotation and quickly restart the engine to avoid failure caused by improper model control.
  • Independent output port for tachometer signals in helicopter modes/to enable engine reverse in aircraft mode.
  • Special programming port for controller programming or parameter setting Multifunction LCD programmer or OTA module with Bluetooth.
  • Supports online data checking, controller programming, software update on PC or smartphone/tablet (requires multifunction LCD programmer or OTA module).
  • OTA module with Bluetooth (sold separately) for wireless controller programming via smartphone (iOS or Android).
  • A range of protection functions: start-up protection, controller thermal protection, capacitor thermal protection, overload protection, over-current protection and control signal loss protection.

PROGRAMMABLE FUNCTIONS

  • Flight mode: Allows you to select programs for aircraft, helicopter (with linear throttle control), helicopter (with Elf governor) or helicopter (with Store governor).
  • Number of LiPo cells: the governor offers automatic detection of the number of cells or its manual setting.
  • Method of disconnecting the motor when voltage protection is triggered: The controller will gradually reduce the power to 50% of full power within 3 seconds after the voltage protection tripped, if the "Power Limiting" mode is selected. If "Hard Shutdown" mode is selected, the motor is immediately shut down.
  • PCO - Voltage Protection: The threshold of the voltage protection level is adjustable in the range of 2.7-3.7 V/cell.
  • BEC voltage: The BEC voltage of the power stabilizer can be adjusted in the range of 5.0-8.0 V in 0.1 V steps.
  • Start-up time: The start-up time is adjustable from 4-25 s in 1 s steps.
  • Regulator parameter P: Determines the ability of the regulator to maintain a constant speed.
Controller parameter I: Determines the dynamic response of the controller.
  • Auto restart time: In helicopter modes (Elf/Store Governor), the governor shuts down the engine when the throttle is between 25 and 40%. If you add throttle above 40% during the set auto restart time, the engine will start quickly and (within the set restart acceleration time) accelerate to the rpm corresponding to the current throttle value. If you add throttle above 40% after the set auto restart time, the controller will go into soft start mode.
  • Restart Acceleration Time: Adjustable from 1-3 s in 0.5 s increments. This function determines the time required to restart the engine and accelerate to full speed in helicopter modes (Elf/Store Governor).
  • Brake: Sets the propeller brake function - off, normal, proportional, reverse (allows you to enable reverse engine operation with another channel with a switch).
  • Brake intensity: adjustable from 0-100% in 1% steps for normal brake mode.
  • Time: adjustable in the range of 0-30° in 1° steps.
  • Motor rotation direction: clockwise/counterclockwise.
  • DEO Idle: This function can be turned on or off in airplane or helicopter mode (linear throttle) to achieve better throttle response linearity.

PROTECTIVE FUNCTIONS OF THE REGULATOR

  • Start-up protection: The controller measures the engine speed during startup. If the RPM stops rising or its increase is not stable, the controller evaluates this as an abnormal start. If the throttle is less than 15% at this point, the controller will automatically try to restart the engine; if the throttle is at more than 15%, you must pull the throttle all the way down to restart the engine.
  • Regulator thermal protection: If the temperature of the controller exceeds 110°C, the controller will gradually reduce the power, but will not completely shut down the motor. In order for the motor to maintain a certain power and not cause failure, the maximum power limitation is about 50% of full power. As the temperature of the regulator decreases, the regulator will gradually restore maximum power. In addition, when switching on, the temperature of the regulator must not exceed 70°C, otherwise the motor cannot be turned on.
  • Throttle signal loss: the controller shuts down the motor if there is no signal for 0.25 seconds, to prevent even more damage and danger caused by the fast-rotating rotor or propeller. Once a normal signal is received, the controller returns to normal operation.
  • Overload protection: The controller shuts down the motor or restarts automatically when its load suddenly increases to a very high value. (Possible cause: jamming of the propeller or rotor)
  • Overcurrent protection: the controller shuts down the motor if the current approaches the short-circuit current value. This protection can be activated by a short circuit in a burned motor or for other reasons.

Note: When switching on the controller for the first time, first calibrate the gas range according to the instructions. Only then can you use the controller and set other parameters using the Multifunction LCD programmer or the OTA module with Bluetooth.
