RESitch is an altitude switch/limiter developed specifically for the ERES motor glider category, which ensures that the engine is turned off when the model reaches a preset altitude (80-200 m). However, it can also be used in other competition categories where the same starting altitude for all models is important. It can function as a normal altimeter/ telemetry altimeter. The RESitch includes a highly sensitive altimeter/variometer that uses components made with the latest MEMS technology to achieve high accuracy while maintaining a miniature size. The sensor is able to detect subtle changes in atmospheric pressure, thus indicating the rate of ascent/descent.

FEATURES

  • Miniature dimensions
  • Large gauge cables do not restrict power to the receiver and servos from the BEC power conditioner in the electronic speed controller
  • Accurate measurement of absolute/altitude and ascent/descent speed
  • Optional telemetry with automatic detection: Futaba S.BUS2, Graupner HoTT, Multiplex MSB, JETI Duplex EX
  • Adjustable shutdown height (80-200 m)
  • Setting via transmitter - via transmitter menu (JETI, HoTT only), alternatively via gas channel (all compatible telemetry transmitters, cut-off height only)
  • Upgradable firmware

RESitch is connected between the receiver (gas channel) and the electronic speed controller. When the data output is connected to the telemetry port on the receiver, it can also function as a conventional altimeter/variometer compatible with Futaba S.BUS2, Graupner HoTT, Multiplex MSB and JETI Duplex EX telemetry systems. To allow its use in competitions where telemetry transmission is not allowed, RESitch can operate in three modes:

  • Full telemetry - RESitch behaves like a standard vario
  • Limited telemetry - only the cutoff altitude is transmitted wirelessly
  • No telemetry - active during competition flight.

Setting up RESitch with JETIBOX

When connected to JETIBOX, you can view the current measurement values (these parameters are also part of the extended menu for Graupner HoTT and JETI RC kits):

  • relative altitude
  • vario
  • absolute atmospheric pressure
  • temperature

Settings of other parameters:

  • menu language (Czech, English, German, French, Italian)
  • shutdown altitude - the altitude relative to the RESitche switch-on point at which the engine will be shut down

Using RESitche during the competition

After setting the shutdown altitude using the transmitter or JETIBOX, the model will be turned off. After turning it back on and initializing RESitche for about 3 seconds, you are ready to fly. Immediately after the engine is turned on (by a signal in the throttle channel with a control pulse width greater than 1.2 ms), a countdown begins and the engine is turned off when any of the following conditions are met:

  • The pilot withdraws the throttle below the threshold signal level of 1.2 ms
  • 30 seconds have elapsed since the engine was started
  • The model exceeds the set shutdown height

The engine cannot be restarted during the flight; a new powered flight can be completed only after the RESitch is landed and turned off and back on. The shutdown altitude used during the last flight can be further checked after landing with JETIBOX connected, even if RESitch power has been turned off in the meantime.

KAVAN RESitch was designed and is manufactured in the Czech Republic.

It measures 32x12x5mm, weighs 7g, and is powered by 3.5-12V. Connects receiver to controller, adjustable with Jetibox or transmitter.
