"Adult" ASW 17 produced in the first half of the 1970s by the German glider company Alexander Schleicher GmbH&Co. is a typical modern high-performance single-seat composite glider that has set many records in its class
Made of almost indestructible extruded polyolefin (EPO) foam, the FMS ASW-17 has a span of 2500 mm! Large dimensions, attractive appearance, excellent flying characteristics - simply the ideal large recreational model for anyone who has already mastered piloting two-meter EPO gliders.
The fuselage of the EPO foam model is equipped with: an AC motor (C3541-KV750), a folding propeller, a 40 A regulator and servos. In the front of the fuselage, under the large removable cabin cover, there is space for batteries and on-board electronics. The model will need four 2200-2600 mAh Li-poly cells with 35C capacity. Steering of the directional rudder and altitude rudder is done by a servo located in the rear of the fuselage. The wing, also made of EPO foam, is two-piece, sliding on the side on duralumin. Four aileron and flap control mechanisms are mounted in the airfoil.
You will need at least a six-channel RC kit to control the model - in this case, both the aileron and flap servos are connected to one channel using Y cables (included). When connecting the receiver, follow the instructions for the RC kit. Ideally, you should have at least a seven-channel computerized RC kit that allows independent control of the aileron and flap servos. In that case, you can set differential aileron deflections; to start with, we recommend 50% - that is, the downward aileron deflection is half as much as the upward deflection. Mainly for easier landing on a slope, it is beneficial to mix ailerons as airbrakes.
ARF kit includes: finished model with AC motor, speed controller and 6 servos, propeller cap and instructions.
To launch the model you need:
