The BG-8S is a multifunctional measuring device that allows testing the condition of batteries of most major model types: Li-Po, Li-ion, LiFe, LiHV, NiCd and NiMH. It also allows autonomous balancing of lithium packs to equalize the voltage of individual cells to the same level. In servo signal test mode, it can be used to measure servo signal parameters at the receiver output - PWM for classic servos and serial S.BUS. It can also act as a smart USB charger/power bank powered by the connected battery.

LITHIUM BATTERY VOLTAGE TESTING

The device can measure 2-8S lithium batteries (Li-Po, Li-ion, LiFe, LiHV) without the need for an additional power supply. To test 1S batteries, connect a power supply battery with a voltage higher than 5V to the input socket of the XT60i. The battery to be tested is connected directly (supplied with JST-XH service connectors) or with a suitable adapter.

The tester measures and displays:

  • total battery voltage
  • the voltage of individual cells of the set
  • the voltage difference of the cells with the highest and lowest voltage

TESTING the voltage of NiCd and NiMH battery packs

When testing 4-10 cells. NiCd and NiMH batteries do not require an additional power source. To test NiCd and NiMH batteries with less than 4 cells, a power supply battery with a voltage higher than 5 V must be connected to the XT60i's input jack.

The tester measures and displays:

  • total battery voltage

Balancer (2-8S)

BG-8S allows autonomous balancing - the device discharges the cells of the set to the level of the cell with the lowest voltage (the device is powered from the discharged battery).

SERVO SIGNAL TESTER

To test the servo signal, the corresponding output (channel) or S.BUS socket of the receiver is connected to the BG-8S using a three-wire servo cable in a standard connector, so that the black (brown) wire (-) is connected to the tester/balancer socket pin (-). If the power supply voltage of the receiver is lower than 5.0 V, connect an external power supply of at least 5 V to the XT60i socket.

  • Testing PWM signal - width modulated signal for classic servos: When the signal output from the receiver for classic servos (PWM) is connected, the BG-8S measures and displays the receiver supply voltage, repetition rate and width of the signal pulses, which are also displayed as a relative deviation amount in %.
  • S.Bus signal testing - serial signal for S.Bus servos: When the S.BUS serial signal output from the receiver is connected, the BG-8S displays the relative deviation magnitude in % and as a bar graph up to 18 channels.

USB CHARGER

The BG-8S can also act as a "field" USB charger/power bank powered by a battery connected to the XT60i socket - the tester protects this battery from over-discharge. The BG-8S is capable of charging popular devices (5V/max. 2A), as well as smart fast charging for devices using Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0/3.0 technology, compatible with BC1.2 and Apple devices. Allows charging of up to 12V/2A.
