Stainless steel pins. They are used in machine building as an element protecting against sliding or displacement of elements placed on shafts, axes, pins or other elements. Cotter pins are used only when the secured element is not loaded. Split pins are also used to secure nuts against self-loosening. They are threaded through a hole drilled in the element and its free ends are bent.
