The Saito FG-14 C gasoline engine is a 4-barrel unit created for aviation models, in the creation of which the main focus was on maximizing engine performance, reducing weight and ensuring unparalleled durability. The engine design was based on the FA-82 A glow unit, which was additionally retrofitted with a new pump carburetor, electronic ignition system and a mini spark plug, designed specifically for Saito engines
As with the glow engines, the manufacturer has also focused on quality. The cylinder in which the piston moves has been integrated with the head, which improves cooling, significantly reduces weight and eliminates any symptoms of uneven, disrupted operation (sometimes occurring when the piston-cylinder-gasket-head components are not well-fitted together). The piston, built from an aluminum alloy with a high silicon content, is also equipped with a ring to improve compression. The connecting rod, cast from hardened aluminum, is connected to an extremely damage-resistant crankshaft made from chrome-molybdenum steel, similarly to the glow version supported by two top-quality ball bearings
The FG-14 C engine, despite being built "from the mold" of the FA-82 engine, with all its accessories is slightly heavier than it and requires a bit more space for installation (mainly due to the ignition apparatus). Although it retains similar technical parameters (slightly lower power and imperceptibly lower static thrust), it generates them consuming almost 4 times less, definitely cheaper fuel (only 8 ml / 1 min !)
