A kit for building a model of the sailing ship HMS Warrior in the scale 1: 100.
The Warrior was designed and built in response to the aggressive French shipbuilding program that introduced the first iron warship, La Gloire, designed by genius naval architect Stanislas Charles Henri Dupuy de Lome. The then First Lord of the Admiralty, Sir John Somerset Pakington, determined to take on this challenge, set out to build a ship better in quality, speed, size, armor and armor so that it would be unthinkable for France to defeat Britain in a naval battle. Under the command of Captain Hon. Arthur Auckland Leopold Pedro Cochrane On August 1, 1861, the Warrior was the largest warship in the world, with a displacement of 9,210 tons, it was 60% larger than La Gloire. After the sea trial, the ship underwent minor modifications. In June 1862, he began active service in the English Channel Squadron, patrolling coastal waters and sailing to Lisbon and Gibraltar. After the revolution in maritime architecture, the Warrior was replaced in 1864 with faster designs, with larger guns and thicker armor. Source: HMS Warior
