The knife with the symbol ESK-1 also bears the name KITTER, which is a combination of the words KIDS and CUTTER, meaning children and knife. After all, the KITTER knife was designed primarily with them in mind, and they can look at it - as can their parents - with confidence.

In order to minimize the exposure of the cutting edge, the segmented blade of the new knife has been covered in the dominant part with a layer of plastic ( in OLFA's safe yellow color ). Breaking off the segments that arouse fear even in adults is safe and easy here. Just slide them into the slot in the chipping device and ...... break them off. Also, replacing the blade does not create the fear of injury.

The shape of the knife, which is dominated by rounded edges, is easy to grasp with children's hands. Together with a dedicated stand/breaker with a rounded shape reminiscent of a computer mouse, KITTER will be a nice stationery item for children. But it will also be an attractive dish for adults.
Knife awarded at Japan's largest annual office products fair ISOT (International Stationary & Office Products Fair TOKYO ) . The STATIONERY OF THE YEAR industry award, given to the best products at the fair, went to OLFA in 2018 .

The use of sharp tools by children seems like a combination of something risky. But if the tools are designed specifically so that our kids can use them safely, what then?

OLFA meets the needs of different users, and especially if they are children! Preparing cutouts, paper toys or even disguises is a daily routine for every preschooler and their parents, who want to make sure that no one gets hurt while playing.
Specially designed knives ESK-1 and TS-1, thanks to the maximum safety of the blade, allow even children to use them. SK series of safety knives thanks to the blade hidden in the handle or its automatic retraction makes their use safe from accidental injury. Finally, the used blade can be safely stored in a special container.
For DIY for kids, OLFA has launched a website called TSUKURUTO, where we can find lots of inspiration and templates for creating paper toys using OLFA's safe tools.Supporting us in the fun are three ninjas: Kiruto, Namiito and Nukitto, who make sure that every piece of cut-out is easy, fast and safe!

*Follow the instructions included with the product, children and the youngest modelers should only use this knife under adult supervision. Consider the knife as a sharp and dangerous tool, the design only minimizes the possibility of injury.
