The Decathlon ARF version of the 1,400mm wingspan semi-macro aircraft from OMP HOBBY is an ideal top-flight for supplemental training, designed to be powered by a 500-600W AC electric motor powered by a 3-4S LiPo battery. With a 3S battery and low rudder deflection, it's an excellent training model for "sharpening" basic aerobatics; if you use a 4S battery and high deflection, you can "hang on to the propeller" and really go wild.
The fuselage is a classic "box" structure made of lightweight plywood and balsa covered with Oracover® iron-on film. It is prepared for mounting a 500-600W AC electric motor such as KAVAN C3542-1000, KAVAN PRO 3542-950, Model Motors AXI 2820/12, etc. with a 40-60A speed controller with SBEC power stabilizer. Access to the on-board electronics and battery compartments is provided by a removable front section of the cabin and a cover on the cabin ceiling. The rear of the fuselage is fitted with microservers for the altitude and direction rudder.
The two-part wing with a semi-symmetrical profile is at the same time a classic construction entirely of balsa with a napalm film coating; the halves slide onto a carbon tube joint at the side and secure with screws. The ailerons are controlled by micro servos located in the wing using short cylinders with ball studs. The model's struts are attached to the fuselage and wing with screws.
The tail surfaces are made entirely of balsa and covered with a molding film.
The main landing gear is duralumin with lightweight foam wheels and aerodynamic covers, and the tail wheel is coupled to the directional rudder.
You will need at least a four-channel RC kit to control the model, but to get the most out of the model, use at least a six-channel computerized RC kit that allows independent aileron control. For rudder control, use a good 12-13g micro servo with metal gears, such as the KAVAN GO-13MG. For 3D "wildness," use powerful and fast digital micro servos, such as the KAVAN GO-1013MG.
TheARF kit includes: assembled fuselage, wing, iron-on foil-covered tail surfaces, carbon fiber wing tube, duralumin main and tail landing gear with lightweight wheels, propeller cap, small accessories, sheet of self-adhesive stickers, instructions.
